1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and role (RBT, BCBA, or company representative).

Professional Information: For therapists, we collect BACB certification number, certification status, years of experience, specializations, and practice management tool familiarity. For companies, we collect company name, primary operating ZIP code, company type, and preferred practice management tools.

Location Data: We collect your home address (therapists) solely for drive-time calculations. Home addresses are never displayed to other users. Companies provide a primary operating ZIP as a rough locator; each shift post carries its own location, which is what drives matching.

Availability Data: Your weekly schedule of available and unavailable hours, used for matching.

Usage Data: We may collect information about how you interact with the platform, including pages viewed, features used, and matching activity.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Facilitate matching between companies and therapists based on schedule compatibility, location, and credentials
Calculate drive times between therapists and shift locations
Verify professional credentials against BACB records
Enable anonymous messaging between matched parties
Process payments for shift posting and match fees
Send notifications about matches, messages, and platform updates
Improve the platform and matching algorithm

3. Anonymity and Data Visibility

ABAshifts is designed with privacy as a core feature. Therapist identities (name, email, home address) are hidden from companies until the therapist explicitly confirms a match. Before confirmation, companies can only see:

An anonymous label (e.g., “RBT-247”)
Availability schedule
Years of experience and specializations
Certification status
Calculated drive time (not the actual address)

Company names are visible to therapists from the start, as transparency about potential employers is a core platform value.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as follows:

With matched parties: Upon mutual match confirmation, identities are revealed to both parties
Payment processing: Payment information is processed by our payment provider (Stripe) and is not stored on our servers
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and associated data
Deactivate your profile to be hidden from matching
Export your data in a portable format

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request account deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
